Downloads Of “Zombie Booth” Reach 10 Million

Motion Portrait Inc. [J] has announced that the total number of downloads of their smartphone application “Zombie Booth” has topped over 10 million.

“Zombie Booth” is an application which allows you to make a realistically moving 3D zombie avatar while adding a groaning voice onto a face photo.  Corresponding with their breaching of over 10 million downloads, motion beat is also adding headgear, eyes, mouth, and wounds, and they are also adding a shop as well as a customization function.  You can purchase all kinds of customized items with virtual currency at the shop, and it’s possible to make over 500,000 zombie faces with combinations of the 66 types of items.

Photo Speak: Let Your Favorite Portrait Speak And Blink

Motion Portrait, a tech spin-out of Sony Computer Science Laboratories(CSL) and now a subsidiary of So-Net Entertainment, introduced an iPhone app that allows you to animate your favorite picture and let it blink and speak anything you want, Photo Speak today.   Now it’s available at AppStore for JPY350.

The app uses the company’s state-of-the-art technology to create a portrait animation with an emotional motion from a still image, and it enables lip-sync with recorded voice.

In order to get the animation, you just need to shoot a picture with an iPhone-embed camera or to choose a picture taken.  After the app complete uploading it to the company’s server, it will get a processed animation in several seconds.

The company is planning to enhance the app by adding features that allow you to add a hat or a pair of glasses on the animated result and to share it with your friends.

Herbivorous-type Boys Scouter: What Animal Are You?

Motion Portrait, a Tokyo-based tech start-up and expert in image processing, and Gigno System Japan, a mobile app developer and a subsidiary of Tokyo FM Broadcasting[J], jointly introduced a new mobile service called “Herbivorous-type Boys Scouter (草食男子スカウター[J])“, which allows you to measure how aggressive you are for girl hunting.

Author’s Note: Herbivorous-type boys or 草食系男子 (Soshoku-kei Danshi) has been used by Japanese media for the last several years.   It stands for males in their 20s and 30s who are always cooperative and gentle but not aggressive to have relationship with females.

Just take a portrait photo with a camera built-in your cellphone and e-mail it to the system.   The system will receive your portrait, analyze your face by measuring the distance between the eyes etc., determine what animal you resemble, make a composite photo of your portrait and the animal and e-mail it back to you.

Available only from cellphones subscribing to each of Japanese mobile carriers.

Vegan-type Boys Scouter
