Is Facebook Japan’s No.1 Social Networks?

No, not yet.

Italian social media consultant Vincenzo Cosenza updated world map of social networks, and on this June 2012 version, Japan is painted in Facebook color.

I just refer my past articles.

Why do English media keep repeating incorrect info on imaginary Facebook’s takeover? Because very few Mixi stakeholders exist outside of Japan, whilst there are people who earn more money if Facebook Japan being reported to reach the same level success as in US.

Twitter, which might have overtaken Mixi already (It is not possible to track Japanese feature phone web stats correctly.), may not want to advertise it much as they do not want to be seen as “popular but only in Japan” phenomenon when they are trying to chase Facebook popularity in US and the other regions.

Orenoyome – Pinterest for Otaku

Oreno Yome wo Jiman suru Saito (A website to boast my wife) is a new Japanese service where to post your favorite photos of “yome”, which literally means wife, but in Otaku context, “ore no yome” means anything but your real human being wife, on which female character assigned, and on which you put your heart and soul.

On the site, there are already a lot of “yome”s including dolls, posters, collection cards, comics, games, anime DVDs, cellphone straps, pillows, hole toys, etc., etc.

note from Asiajin

Ponta [J] is rather new point card alliance, and major companies joined the network are Geo, Japan’s second largest video rental chain-store after Tsutaya/CCC and Lawson, the nation’s second largest convenience store chain after Seven Eleven.

Lawson used to be a member of T-point card, which is led by CCC.
