Yahoo Japan Corporation (Yahoo! JAPAN) [J] has closed Yahoo! Avatar [J], their 2D avatar service for Yahoo! JAPAN users.
“Yahoo! Avatar” is a 2D avatar service that began in April of 2003. Users can create their own original avatar by combining all kinds of items like accessories, clothing, hairstyles, and faces, and you can display it as your own icon on various Yahoo! JAPAN services. Unfortunately however service termination has been decided. Furthermore, it is being sequentially halted on the services of Yahoo! JAPAN and Item Release, but the “closet function” where you dress up avatars will be maintained until March 31st 2013. Also the function for posting the avatar on a Yahoo! blog was able to be used until November 5th.
