But today, we can report that such a beast has been sighted.<br \/>\nSingaporean tech blog <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e27.sg\">e27<\/a> just broke the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e27.sg\/2010\/08\/27\/japans-flutterscape-closes-177k-seed-round-with-digital-garage\/\">news<\/a> that Tokyo-based <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flutterscape.com\/\">Flutterscape<\/a>, a cross-border social marketplace for all things Japanese, has closed a seed investment round worth $177,000. The money comes from Tokyo-based <a href=\"http:\/\/garage.co.jp\/en\/\">Digital Garage<\/a>, which is listed at the Tokyo Stock Exchange and is (among other things) <a href=\"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2008\/01\/08\/twitter-goes-into-japan-assisted-by-digital-garage\/\">Twitter&#8217;s official partner in Japan<\/a>.<br \/>\nEarlier this month, Flutterscape scored another seed investment ($118,000) from major Japanese auction platform <a href=\"http:\/\/aucfan.com\/\">AucFan<\/a>, bringing the total amount raised to close to $300,000. That&#8217;s a quite handsome amount of money, even by international standards (for a seed investment, at least).<br \/>\nFlutterscape is available in English only (there&#8217;s no Japanese UI).<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/flutterscape_splashpage.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9936\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/flutterscape_splashpage.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"466\" height=\"342\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nFlutterscape currently counts just <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flutterscape.com\/aboutus\/the-team\">three<\/a> full-time employees. e27 has more details on the investments from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e27.sg\/2010\/08\/27\/japans-flutterscape-closes-177k-seed-round-with-digital-garage\/\">Digital Garage<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e27.sg\/2010\/08\/12\/flutterscape-raises-half-a-million-in-seed-funding\/\">AucFan<\/a> and also provides insight on how the service got over 36,000 people to &#8220;like&#8221; their <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/home.php?#!\/flutterscape?ref=ts\">Facebook page<\/a> so far.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Japanese Internet startup that not only has international ambitions but that&#8217;s also able to receive a substantial amount of seed money is a very, very rare beast.
