{"id":9532,"date":"2010-08-05T12:51:22","date_gmt":"2010-08-05T03:51:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/?p=9532"},"modified":"2010-08-05T12:51:22","modified_gmt":"2010-08-05T03:51:22","slug":"kddi-to-acquire-stake-in-ar-start-up-tonchidot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2010\/08\/kddi-to-acquire-stake-in-ar-start-up-tonchidot\/","title":{"rendered":"KDDI To Acquire Stake In AR Start-up Tonchidot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"au's Logo\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/kddi_logo_au.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"83\" height=\"89\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Tonchidot's Logo\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/tonchidot.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"43\" \/><br \/>\nThe Nikkei, or Japan&#8217;s economic journal, reported today that Japan&#8217;s second largest telecom giant <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kddi.com\/english\/\">KDDI<\/a> announced it would invest in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tonchidot.com\/\">Tonchidot<\/a>, the Tokyo-based tech start-up who is well known for augmented-reality(AR) smartphone app <a href=\"http:\/\/sekaicamera.com\/\">Sekai Camera<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 Tonchidot plans to allocate new shares to KDDI to raise approximately USD530,000 in order to develop social games using Sekai Camera-based technologies.\u00a0\u00a0 The two companies have not disclosed how much a stake KDDI will take in Tonchidot.<br \/>\nKDDI announced last March that it would be partnering with Tonchidot to launch a joint business based on AR-based technologies.\u00a0\u00a0 KDDI&#8217;s mobile service &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.au.kddi.com\/english\/index.html\">Au<\/a> (pronounced as &#8216;Ei-you&#8217;)&#8221;
