{"id":6871,"date":"2009-12-09T00:03:31","date_gmt":"2009-12-08T15:03:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/?p=6871"},"modified":"2009-12-09T00:03:31","modified_gmt":"2009-12-08T15:03:31","slug":"cyberagent-launches-twitter-clone-called-ameba-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/cyberagent-launches-twitter-clone-called-ameba-now\/","title":{"rendered":"CyberAgent Launches Twitter Clone Called &#8220;Ameba Now!&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6879\" title=\"CyberAgent's Logo\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/CyberAgent-logo.gif\" alt=\"CyberAgent's Logo\" width=\"151\" height=\"37\" \/><br \/>\nShibuya-based social media service company <a href=\"http:\/\/ir.cyberagent.co.jp\/ir_e\/\">Cyber Agent<\/a> launched a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.twitter.com\">Twitter<\/a>-like micro message service called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/now.ameba.jp\/\">Ameba Now[J]<\/a>&#8221; today.\u00a0\u00a0 As a Japanese Internet slang, &#8220;now&#8221; is frequently used in a Twitter message telling other Twitterers where you are, such as &#8220;Shibuya Now!&#8221; and &#8220;Akihabara Now!&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0 That company&#8217;s new service name comes from it.<br \/>\nAs Serkan Toto mentioned in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techcrunch.com\/2009\/11\/27\/6-reasons-why-twitter-japans-subscription-model-might-work-in-japan\/\">his TechCrunch article on Twitter&#8217;s monetization attempt<\/a> that they had failed,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Japanese web users are generally way more interested in what celebrities (singers, actors, TV stars etc.) \u201care doing\u201d or \u201cwhat\u2019s happening\u201d in their private lives.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yep, that&#8217;s why Cyber Agent has been partnering with many entertainment agencies, and they&#8217;ve called 6,000 entertainers for their blog service platform.\u00a0\u00a0 In competing with Twitter running further ahead, Cyber Agent will use the same way to engage many users.\u00a0\u00a0 100 entertainers are intend to join this Twitter-like service by the end of this year, and additional 500 entertainers will also join it by next March.<br \/>\nOf course, any non-entertainer like you can also join it.\u00a0\u00a0 Just as same with Twitter, a message post to Ameba Now must be consisted of less than 140 characters.\u00a0\u00a0 Because of the Chinese character&#8217;s advantage that an every single character has an ideograph and multiple syllables, Japanese messages can make yourself understood by a smaller set of characters, so 140-character is already enough.<br \/>\n&#8220;The first three months decides the game.\u00a0\u00a0 We have no exact target value.\u00a0\u00a0 But if the service&#8217;s start dash is not good, we will withdraw it soon.&#8221;, Cyber Agent&#8217;s assistant producer Eiko Nagayama says.<br \/>\nAmeba Now mobile edition is currently available, and the PC edition is now planned to be launched next Wednesday.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6873\" title=\"AmebaNow!
