{"id":420,"date":"2008-07-04T00:49:38","date_gmt":"2008-07-03T15:49:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/?p=420"},"modified":"2008-07-04T00:49:38","modified_gmt":"2008-07-03T15:49:38","slug":"nico-nico-douga-forced-to-delete-copyright-protected-video-material","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2008\/07\/nico-nico-douga-forced-to-delete-copyright-protected-video-material\/","title":{"rendered":"Nico Nico Douga forced to delete copyright-protected video material"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It was inevitable and actually long overdue:<br \/>\nMega-popular video-sharing site <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nicovideo.jp\/\">Nico Nico Douga<\/a>, Japan&#8217;s answer to Youtube, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.nicovideo.jp\/niconews\/2008\/07\/001336.html\">announced<\/a> it will remove movies and anime clips infringing on copyrights held by various Japanese companies.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/niconico-douga-sp1-logo.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-182\" title=\"Niconico Douga Logo (SP1)\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/niconico-douga-sp1-logo.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"48\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe move was triggered by a request coming from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aja.gr.jp\/\">Association of Japanese Animations<\/a> (AJA), the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jva-net.or.jp\/en\/index.html\">Japan Video Software Association<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.eiren.org\/history_e\/index.html\">Motion Picture Producers Association of Japan<\/a>. Nico Nico came to an agreement with these organizations by promising they will delete all existing video files on the site the member companies regard as problematic.<br \/>\nMoreover, Nico Nico from now on has to install measures to prevent uploading of copyright infringing content on the site.
