\nReportedly Japan’s leading publisher Kodansha<\/a> seems to have stopped updating its portal site on June 1st.
\n\"Moura's
\nThe portal site, named “Moura[J]<\/a>” (meaning “covering the entire world”), was launched in 2005, following the web edition of the publisher’s popular weekly magazine “Gendai[J]<\/a>“.\u00a0\u00a0 Almost 50 web editorial staffs were notified to dismiss the \u00a0team so lately as last month.\u00a0\u00a0 The portal’s submenu featuring comic series drawn by brand new manga artists, called MiChao![J]<\/a> (meaning “let’s see it” in Japanese), is also supposed to be closed in coming November.<\/p>\n

Moura’s predecessor, Gendai’s web edition was the publisher’s first site requiring subscription fee and has been repeating “try-and-error” to monetize it. \u00a0 Among Japan’s leading publishers, Kodansha was the most aggressive to switch its business field to the websphere, but this site’s ending means the publisher has failed to monetize it finally. \u00a0 In addition, its printing publication business is staying in the red,\u00a0 everyone rumors money-making magazines might be suspended in the near future. (according to an interview with one of the staffs.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In the annual report for FY2008 earning,\u00a0Kodansha declared the largest loss of JPY7.7B (USD77M) in the company’s 100-year history.
