{"id":1884,"date":"2009-01-16T19:14:57","date_gmt":"2009-01-16T10:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/?p=1884"},"modified":"2009-01-16T19:14:57","modified_gmt":"2009-01-16T10:14:57","slug":"users-of-kadokawas-new-video-site-can-add-anime-subtitles-collaboratively","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2009\/01\/users-of-kadokawas-new-video-site-can-add-anime-subtitles-collaboratively\/","title":{"rendered":"Users of Kadokawa&#8217;s New Video Site Can Add Anime Subtitles Collaboratively"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kadokawa Marketing, a subsidiary of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kadokawa-hd.co.jp\">this publishing and film-making conglomerate\uff62J]<\/a>, has introduced a new web video service called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/kadokawa.sagool.tv\/locale.do?forward=TP&amp;queryString=&amp;ui=en\">kadoTV<\/a>&#8220;.<br \/>\nKadokawa&#8217;s new service allows its users to collaboratively add synchronized, multilingual subtitles to each anime on the site.\u00a0\u00a0 The service is based on video retrieval technology developed by Tokyo University&#8217;s graduate tech start-up <a href=\"http:\/\/www.team-lab.com\/english\/\">TeamLab<\/a>, and allows users to search subtitles using text or audio input, and sort the results based on image similarity.\u00a0 Videos appearing on the site come from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\">YouTube<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nicovideo.jp\/\">NicoNico Douga[J]<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/vision.ameba.jp\/\">Ameba Vision[J]<\/a> and other video sharing sites worldwide.<br \/>\nkadoTV is an experimental service chosen by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.igvpj.jp\/index_en\/\">Information Grand Voyage Project<\/a>, which was organized by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meti.go.jp\/english\/\">Japan&#8217;s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry<\/a> to encourage the development of next-generation information retrieval and analysis technologies.<br \/>\nFrom the service provider&#8217;s perspective, Kadokawa expects to determine the potential of what is termed the &#8220;subtitle business&#8221;,\u00a0 detect videos uploaded without the content holder&#8217;s permission, and identify possible film creators and business opportunities both inside and outside of Japan.<br \/>\nThe experimental service is available until the end of February.<br \/>\n<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/kadokawa.sagool.tv\/locale.do?forward=TP&amp;queryString=&amp;ui=en\">kadoTV&#8217;s English top page<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1887\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/01\/kadotv-400x256.jpg\" alt=\"Screenshot of kadoTV\" width=\"400\" height=\"256\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kadokawa Marketing, a subsidiary of this publishing and film-making conglomerate\uff62J], has introduced a new web video service called &#8220;kadoTV&#8220;.
