Messenger&#8221; at 3 p.m. on March 26, 2014.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com.s3.amazonaws.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/yahoo-messenger-close.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yahoo-messenger-close\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-18734\" height=\"307\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com.s3.amazonaws.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/yahoo-messenger-close-600x307.png\" width=\"600\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nYahoo! Messenger was one of the most popular messenger services for Japanese Internet users, competed against Skype and MSN Messenger. (MSN Messenger, aka Windows Live Messenger, was also stopped after Microsoft got Skype)<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com.s3.amazonaws.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/yahoo-messenger-screenshot.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"yahoo-messenger-screenshot\" class=\"alignright size-large wp-image-18735\" height=\"600\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com.s3.amazonaws.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/yahoo-messenger-screenshot-346x600.png\" width=\"346\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nYahoo! Japan and U.S. Yahoo! are\/were not the same company, used different account system. As a result of that, Yahoo! Messengers are also different between English and Japanese, which means English Yahoo! Messenger users could not chat with Japanese Yahoo! Messenger users, different from MSN Messenger and Skype.<br \/>\nYahoo! Japan commented that the number of the active users is drastically decreasing recently, makes them difficult to maintain the service.<br \/>\nThe end of the announcement page guided the users to migrate to three other communication services Yahoo! Japan provides, mobile messenger <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kakao.co.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kakao Talk<\/a> (Yahoo! Japan jointly invested Kakako Talk Japan), free web mail <a href=\"http:\/\/announce.mail.yahoo.co.jp\/smartphone\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yahoo! Mail<\/a>(which is again not the U.S. Yahoo! Mail) and recently released smartphone e-mail app <a href=\"http:\/\/ycm.yahoo.co.jp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yahoo!
