After entering into 2012, Twitter, both site and API, <a href=\"http:\/\/status.twitter.com\/post\/15083740060\/twitter-site-issue\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">went down<\/a> by heavy load.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/twitpic.com\/81988r\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/tweets-at-japans-new-years-eve-2012.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"tweets-at-japans-new-years-eve-2012\" width=\"583\" height=\"420\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-16451\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAccording <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/dfnt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">@dfnt<\/a>, on unofficial Twitter traffic counting service <a href=\"http:\/\/hide.dnsalias.net\/tweetcounter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tweet Counter<\/a> showed that the peak tweets at the midnight January 1, 2012 in Japan Standard Time was 16,197 tweets per second.<br \/>\nThe same <a href=\"http:\/\/hide.dnsalias.net\/tweetcounter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tweet Counter<\/a> counted <a href=\"http:\/\/twitpic.com\/7qsxpj\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">14,594 tweets<\/a> when <a href=\"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/21\/follow-up-of-the-social-networking-column-on-the-japan-times\/\">Japanese made the latest official record on an anime movie &#8220;Tenkuu no Shiro Laputa&#8221;(&#8220;Castle in the Sky&#8221; in US)<\/a>, which was <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/twittercomms\/statuses\/146751974904311808\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">authorized<\/a> as the record by Twitter official 5 days later. The official number was 25,088 tweets per second.<br \/>\nSo, although it is unofficial statistics, as the same measurement says the New Year&#8217;s Eve tweets were 10% more than the Laputa tweets, Twitter&#8217;s 2012 began with the largest tweets ever.
