{"id":13772,"date":"2011-04-06T21:51:17","date_gmt":"2011-04-06T12:51:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/?p=13772"},"modified":"2011-04-06T21:51:17","modified_gmt":"2011-04-06T12:51:17","slug":"japanese-government-opens-social-mediatwitter-guide-site-for-public-organizations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/japanese-government-opens-social-mediatwitter-guide-site-for-public-organizations\/","title":{"rendered":"Japanese Government Opens Social Media(=Twitter) Guide Site For Public Organizations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Japan&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.meti.go.jp\/\">Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry(METI)<\/a> opened <a href=\"http:\/\/smp.openlabs.go.jp\/\">&#8220;Public Organization Social Media Portal&#8221;<\/a> [J] to educate national governmental sections and local governments on how to utilize social media.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/smp.openlabs.go.jp\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/japan-social-media-portal-for-governmental-organizations-371x400.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"japan-social-media-portal-for-governmental-organizations\" width=\"371\" height=\"400\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-13773\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe portal shows several guidelines for 1. citizens to see social media and 2. government workers to send information via social media.<br \/>\nInteresting thing is, on this site &#8220;social media&#8221;\/&#8221;private sector&#8217;s social media&#8221; all point Twitter only.<br \/>\nFor people, the portal alerts that you should check if the governmental Twitter account is real, and provides some check points,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>see <a href=\"http:\/\/govtter.openlabs.go.jp\/m_do_top.php\">the account list confirmed by METI<\/a> [J]<\/li>\n<li>see a portal site <a href=\"http:\/\/govtter.openlabs.go.jp\/\">Gabatter<\/a>[J], which METI runs with assisted by a private web developer<\/li>\n<li>check <a href=\"http:\/\/twinavi.jp\/gov\">Twinavi<\/a> [J], an official Japanese Twitter navigation site <a href=\"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2008\/01\/08\/twitter-goes-into-japan-assisted-by-digital-garage\/\">managed by CGM Marketing<\/a>, a subsidiary of Digital Garage, <a href=\"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2009\/11\/28\/twitter-paid-account-plan-clearly-denied-by-digital-garage\/\">a local partner of U.S. Twitter<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For national and local governmental sections, they hinted that the organization should have a link from their official website to the Twitter account, to convince people that the account is not fake. It also suggests that you should have a profile, giving account policy documentation and apply for Twinavi listing, which &#8220;is a possible path&#8221; to be a Twitter authenticated account, though it is also warned that listed on Twinavi does not guarantee to make it an authenticated account.<br \/>\nAfter the quake, some public\/semi-public organizations have been opening Twitter accounts, including <a href=\"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/16\/japan-prime-ministers-office-begins-english-twitter-to-inform-disaster-information\/\">Prime Minister\u2019s Office (English one)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/17\/tokyo-electric-power-co-tepco-starts-twitter-to-provide-updates\/\">Tokyo Electric Power Co.(TEPCO)<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/21\/japan-ground-self-defense-force-starts-twitter\/\">Japan Ground Self-Defense Force<\/a> (=army, though they are not allowed to identity themselves so).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Japan&#8217;s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry(METI) opened &#8220;Public Organization Social Media Portal&#8221; [J] to educate national governmental sections and local governments on how to utilize social media.
