As traditional media, especially TV, many of which have been reporting on Fukushima nuclear plants fallout intensively and even people living outside of Fukushima are getting panic.<br \/>\nI went to buy some food with my daughter yesterday, an old gentleman behind us in the long line in a supermarket told me that I must let her wear mask, because TV had said that radioactive are flying in Tokyo&#8230; I don&#8217;t think TV news really told that, but I can easily guess that they race how sensational they can be. @FrankieBit told me <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#!\/FrankieBit\/status\/48035026587222016\">a funny news<\/a> that Italian experts measured radiation levels in Rome and Tokyo, and Rome got higher number on that day.<br \/>\nThere were some Geiger counter reports on the net provided by individuals and local governments, but their authority could be challenged. Now, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mext.go.jp\/\">Ministry of Educational, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology<\/a>(MEXT) is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mext.go.jp\/a_menu\/saigaijohou\/syousai\/1303723.htm\">measuring radiation level at 47 prefectures and published it on the web<\/a>.<br \/>\nLike <a href=\"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/16\/japan-prime-ministers-office-begins-english-twitter-to-inform-disaster-information\/\">a new English Twitter account to update crisis info<\/a>, government&#8217;s IT usage becomes better now. They prepare mirror sites on <a href=\"http:\/\/notice.yahoo.co.jp\/emg\/en\/archives\/np_jp.html\">Yahoo! Japan<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/eq.sakura.ne.jp\/\">Sakura Internet<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/eq.wide.ad.jp\/index_en.html\">WIDE Project<\/a>, each of which has an English page or some English info.<br \/>\nTo know how dangerous (or safe) the measured numbers are, students of Keio University translated <a href=\"http:\/\/eq.wide.ad.jp\/files_en\/110315houshasen_en.pdf\">an informational diagram to English<\/a> [pdf].<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/eq.wide.ad.jp\/files_en\/110315houshasen_en.pdf\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/radiation-level-and-life-400x294.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"radiation-level-and-life\" width=\"400\" height=\"294\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-13402\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n[Update]<br \/>\nFukushima, Miyagi and Ibaraki data were not included in it when I wrote this post. Probably because they are near the disastrous points. Miyagi and Ibaraki are added later.<br \/>\nFor Fukushima, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mext.go.jp\/a_menu\/saigaijohou\/syousai\/1303726.htm\">data around the nuclear plants are given here<\/a>.<br \/>\nAnother measurement by districts in Fukushima can be taken from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldvillage.org\/fia\/kinkyu_english.php\">here in English<\/a> on Fukushima International Association site, which seems to be a translation of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pref.fukushima.jp\/j\/index.htm\">this original on Fukushima prefecture local government<\/a> [J].<br \/>\nIbaraki prefecture gives <a href=\"http:\/\/www.houshasen-pref-ibaraki.jp\/present\/result01.html\">the latest radiation level in several points<\/a> on its website [J]. At 18:30 on March 17, numbers are higher than regular level but still small enough.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.jaea.go.jp\/english\/index.shtml\">Japan Atomic Energy Agency(JAEA)<\/a> discloses <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jaea.go.jp\/jishin\/moniter.pdf\">a chart<\/a> with radiation level at their research centers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[Update] Volunteer-made chart [J] comes based on the MEXT data.
