{"id":1224,"date":"2008-10-23T18:52:27","date_gmt":"2008-10-23T09:52:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/?p=1224"},"modified":"2008-10-23T18:52:27","modified_gmt":"2008-10-23T09:52:27","slug":"mashup-awards-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2008\/10\/mashup-awards-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Sun and Recruit&#8217;s Mashup Awards 4"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/mashupaward.gif\" alt=\"\" title=\"mashupaward\" width=\"259\" height=\"120\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1228\" \/><br \/>\nOn Sunday, 19th October, <a href=\"http:\/\/mashupaward.jp\/english\/\">Mashup Awards 4<\/a> , <a href=\"http:\/\/jp.sun.com\/\">Sun Microsystems Japan<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.recruit.co.jp\/corporate\/english\/\">Recruit<\/a>&#8216;s [<a href=\"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/tag\/recruit\/\">Recruit on Asiajin<\/a>] web-service mashup development contest award ceremony was held at Recruit headoffice, next to the Tokyo station.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/logo_sun.gif\" alt=\"\" title=\"logo_sun\" width=\"104\" height=\"45\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1226\" \/><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/logo_recruit.gif\" alt=\"\" title=\"logo_recruit\" width=\"193\" height=\"31\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1227\" \/><br \/>\nThe contest, 4th this time, gathered <a href=\"http:\/\/mashupaward.jp\/api\/all\/\">44 companies&#8217; web service API<\/a> from many of Japanese web companies such like Yahoo Japan, Google Japan, Rakuten, Mixi, Kakaku.com, Microsoft, Technorati, Salesforce, CyberAgent, etc. The API provider list is worth checking if you want to get<br \/>\nThere were 259 applications filed, and <a href=\"http:\/\/mashupaward.jp\/winner\/\">53 awards including 40 API providers&#8217; awards<\/a> were given.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/mashup-awards.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/mashup-awards-400x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"mashup-awards\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1225\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe Grand Prix was, <a href=\"http:\/\/chamap.net\/\">Chamap<\/a>, which integrated browser chat, Google Map and several different shop\/restaurant API with cartoon style interface. Chamap was developed by freelance creator Kentaro YAMA. 1 million yen cash award (around 10,000 USD) was also received.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/chamap-screenshot.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/chamap-screenshot-400x314.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"chamap-screenshot\" width=\"400\" height=\"314\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1230\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nI was invited as <a href=\"http:\/\/mashupaward.jp\/judge\/\">one of 4 external contest judges<\/a>, following last year&#8217;s Yahoo! Japan&#8217;s API contest.<br \/>\nBesides judging Grand Prix and 4 high awards (from 259. tough work), I was given a chance of giving an award under my name. I chose &#8220;Akky Akimoto award&#8221; for <a href=\"http:\/\/vdsfree.vdsapi.ne.jp\/mimi-kaki\/index.html\">Mimi-Kaki<\/a>, English listening comprehension quiz using text-to-speech API.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/mimi-kaki-screenshot.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/mimi-kaki-screenshot-400x308.png\" alt=\"\" title=\"mimi-kaki-screenshot\" width=\"400\" height=\"308\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1231\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nAfter-party was crowded with around 300 developers\/designers\/entrepreneurs with great atmosphere. It is a great chance for startups and individual to promote their ideas and services.
