{"id":11719,"date":"2010-12-16T23:49:46","date_gmt":"2010-12-16T14:49:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/?p=11719"},"modified":"2010-12-16T23:49:46","modified_gmt":"2010-12-16T14:49:46","slug":"samurai-incubate-holds-annual-1-day-camp-for-young-ceos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/asiajin.com\/blog\/2010\/12\/samurai-incubate-holds-annual-1-day-camp-for-young-ceos\/","title":{"rendered":"Samurai Incubate Holds Annual 1-Day Camp For Young CEOs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" title=\"Samurai Venture Summit 2010\" src=\"http:\/\/img.asiajin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/11\/SamuraiVentureSummit_logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"76\" height=\"61\" \/><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.samurai-incubate.asia\/english\/\">Samurai Incubate<\/a>, a Tokyo-based seed accelerator aiming to bring up many tech start-ups, had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.samurai-incubate.asia\/venture.php\">the second edition[J]<\/a> of their annual showcase event in late November, which is called Samurai Venture Summit (for short, SVS) and showed us their investing portfolios and pitch presentations by CEOs of tech start-ups. \u00a0\u00a0It was an one-day event using a several-story office building located in the heart of Shibuya, Tokyo, a number of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, media reporters and more came together to see the team&#8217;s presentations and discuss the future of Japanese start-up scenes.<br \/>\n<a title=\"DSCN3224 by Masaru IKEDA, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/masaruikeda\/5211759018\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm5.static.flickr.com\/4154\/5211759018_7cb2aeb824.jpg\" alt=\"DSCN3224\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nPicture: Taizo Son(left) (<a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/taizoson\">@taizoson[J]<\/a>), a serial entrepreneur and the chairman of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gungho.jp\/\">GungHo Online Entertainment[J]<\/a>, making a keynote speech and Kentaro Sakakibara(right), the founder\/CEO of Samurai Incubate.<br \/>\nTheir pitch presentations, each of which is ruled to be completed in a few minutes, are called &#8220;shout&#8221;, and start-up executives literally present very loudly what they are doing on their businesses and services. \u00a0 It&#8217;s a funny experience and might look so strange for Westerners, but shouting something in front of a large audience means the expression of presenter&#8217;s hell-bent determination to make things happen. \u00a0 35 start-ups pitched their presentations, I cannot cover them all but just pick up three excellent award winners in this story.<br \/>\nFor those who are interested in watching the 35 presentations, check out our YouTube channel via <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/view_play_list?p=C3C5F12BDCAF2792\">this link<\/a>.<br \/>\n<strong>3rd award winner: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.granma-port.jp\/english\/\">Granma<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\nTokyo-based start-up Granma, named after the\u00a0yacht that was used to transport the fighters of the\u00a0Cuban Revolution from\u00a0Mexico to\u00a0Cuba in 1956, develops a business for resolving poverty-related issues (causes) in South Asian countries and the rest of the world. \u00a0 They recently launched a lodging facility called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/cause-village.com\">Cause Village[J]<\/a>&#8221; Aiia is currently seeking someone who is good at handling complainers.
