GREE Opens Global Site “Come Play GREE”


GREE’s [J] American subsidiary company GREE International has opened “Come Play GREE,” a global promotion site.

This site is open to the public for general users overseas.  Including titles planned to be offered from this point on, they are introducing Japan-American social games made by GREE and its partners such as “Zombie Jombie,” “Dino Life,” “Driland.”  They also released a promotional YouTube video which opened at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.

“Be My Princess for GREE” To Be Released In North America


Voltage [J] has announced that they will launch the romance game “Be My Princess for GREE” for distribution in the North American market as a web application for Android and iOS on the GREE Platform.

“Be My Princess for GREE” is the English version of the “GREE Platform Award 2011” romance game first prize winner “Ouji Sama No Propose for GREE” (Prince’s Propose for GREE), which was released for GREE in August of 2011.  As the first social application for distribution overseas, it’s not only a romantic love story with princes from various countries, but you can also enjoy social game features popular in Japan such as “My Avatar” and “Room Avatar.”  Voltage will also open up a display booth for this title at the “Electronic Entertainment Expo” (E3 2012) to coincide with its launch.  This is their first time to exhibit one of their titles at the E3, and guests will be able to freely try out the game at the trial screen in the booth.

GREE Advertises At San Francisco International Airport



GREE [J] has begun corporate branding advertisement at San Francisco International Airport from this month as a measure towards global promotion.

Already they have been expanding [J] airport advertising at Narita International Airport and Haneda Airport International Terminal since April, but this time they have begun global promotion in America along with their first appearance at the “Electronic Entertainment Expo 2012” (E3), the biggest game show in the world, held from June 5th-7th.  The advertisement features the appearance of the slogan “Where gaming is going.” along with an image of smartphones displaying game screens, and these contents appeal to the possibilities of the diffusion of smartphones globally together with continually changing games.  At present these are being displayed at 10 locations at San Francisco International Airport’s concourse, and it is expected that they will catch the eyes of the people who visit the IT industry’s greatest location at Silicon Valley.

GREE And Dentsu Global Promotion At Airports


Gree, [J] in the opening stage of a business partnership with Dentsu Inc., is starting corporate branding advertisements in airports from this April.

Both companies have announced [J] their comprehensive business partnership towards global enterprise on March 21st.  In this first stage they will start a corporate branding project with airport advertising, and in Japan they are developing this from April 1st at Narita International Airport and Haneda Airport International Terminal.  As for airport advertising, GREE has announced 9 cities (Tokyo, San Francisco, London, Singapore, Seoul, Beijing, Amsterdam, Sao Paulo, Dubai) from a global standpoint as being registered. (*Sao Paulo and Dubai are planned to be opened sequentially)

Mixi Gives Up? Nikkei Business Report CEO Considering To Sell His 55% Ownership


Nikkei Business Online, an online version of business magazine under Nikkei group, on May 15 after the midnight reported that Mixi, one of Japan’s largest social networking service, a direct local competitor of Facebook, is on the table to sell itself.

Some social networking competitors, such like Gree and DeNA(who runs Mobage), who had turned over Mixi recent years in number of registered users and corporate values mainly by social games, were being proposed to participate in the bidding secretly, sources closed to financial interest told to Nikkei.

The share to be sold off Nikkei says is 55% of the company owned by the Mixi founder & CEO Kenji Kasahara. He established Mixi in 2004 and soon that becomes a giant business based on real friends network and advertising sales.

On May 5, 4 days ago, Mixi announced a board reshuffling, including Akinori Harada’s steps down from the co-representative director & vice-president, he has been leading Mixi’s recent major measures like Mixi Pages, Mixi Mall, etc.

Mixi promptly issued a short release saying “There are no such truth reported on a certain media.”
